REDWOOD SHORES, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 02/02/15 -- Oracle (NYSE: ORCL)
Central Washington University (CWU), which enrolls more than 10,000 students across eight campuses, upgraded to Oracle's PeopleSoft Human Capital Management 9.2 and PeopleSoft Financials 9.2, integrating the applications with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions via PeopleSoft Interaction Hub to provide a single, centralized source for students, faculty, and staff to access financial, human resources (HR), and student information.
With the Oracle solution, CWU automated and accelerated many previously paper-based financial and HR processes -- including new-hire requisition requests, position description changes, and employee salary increase approvals -- by adding workflow and automated signature capabilities.
The integrated PeopleSoft solution also provides the foundation for the MyCWU digital information portal, which enables students, faculty, and staff to customize their personal portal screens and easily access dashboards with up-to-date data and metrics that help support administrative efficiency.
"Our Oracle upgrade and implementation of MyCWU using PeopleSoft Interaction Hub has been a life-changing experience for our university," says Jill Hernandez, director of applications at Central Washington University. "Our faculty, staff, and students now enjoy a user-friendly interface that provides seamless integration with Oracle's PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, PeopleSoft Human Resources, and PeopleSoft Financials, which provide them with easy access to the information they need to do their jobs."
The Oracle solution enables managers to access dashboards that provide headcount analytics and position-level detail to support hiring decisions and point-in-time budgeting. Managers can also view dashboards with data on their direct reports, enabling them to make more effective personnel decisions and automatically initiate position changes, salary increases, or reporting changes. This self-service capability helps to alleviate the burden on the HR department.
CWU also takes advantage of PeopleSoft Selective Adoption, which enables the university to add new application functionality as it becomes available without any major upgrade -- helping CWU deliver capabilities to end users more quickly and at a lower cost.
CWU worked with Oracle partner and Gold level member of Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN), Sierra-Cedar, on the upgrade. The university plans to continue rolling out new modules, such as PeopleSoft Time and Labor and PeopleSoft Absence Management, and eventually leverage PeopleSoft Recruiting Solutions and PeopleSoft ePerformance to further improve recruiting and staff compensation processes.
"With the PeopleSoft 9.2 upgrade, CWU automated many previously time-consuming business processes -- freeing staff time to focus on more strategic programs that support operational excellence and student success," said Cole Clark, global vice president of education and research, Oracle. "Additionally, with PeopleSoft Selective Adoption, CWU can continue to take advantage of the latest PeopleSoft application functionality with minimal disruption to its campuses."
