With nearly 25 years of experience in the database market, Schuler comes to Citus Data from Percona, the company that delivers enterprise-class MySQL® solutions and services. As the first sales person hired by Percona, he built the entire sales organization from the ground up, establishing and guiding all aspects of the department, from strategic and tactical planning to financial reporting, account and sales team development, competitive sales analysis, contract negotiations, new products and more. As the eventual executive vice president of sales, he grew annual revenue to more than $17 million, had full P&L responsibility for worldwide sales operations, established channel and partner sales teams, and amassed a portfolio of 2,500 accounts that included Sears, Facebook, Yahoo, Blizzard and leading social network and gaming sites.

Prior to Percona, Schuler was the founding Director of MySQL AB World Wide Corporate Sales, where he pioneered high volume sales, grew the organization from 4 to 46 sales reps, and was instrumental in the company's $1 billion acquisition by Sun Microsystems in 2008. Before MySQL AB, Schuler held leadership roles at Extended Systems, which staged a successful IPO, and at Zachary Software, which was acquired by a larger firm. Schuler holds a Computer Science degree from Illinois State University.
