Avni Joins HP Networking SDN Ecosystem

Integrates the Avni Software Defined Cloud With HP Networking, Delivering a Platform That Slashes Time for Cloud Deployments

MILPITAS, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 08/05/15 -- Avni today announced that it has joined HP's SDN Ecosystem to enhance its industry-first Software Defined Cloud (SDC) platform with the integration of HP networking technologies. In combination with HP's open Software-defined Networking (SDN) controller, the Avni SDC platform allows IT Operations and DevOps personnel to rapidly and seamlessly move existing multi-tier apps and workloads to the cloud for greater efficiency.

Avni's initiative squarely addresses the challenges of managing production environments in the cloud for modern or legacy apps. Orchestrating app deployment in production, ensuring service level assurance, and transitioning complex apps from 'any cloud to any cloud' typically require months of effort, testing and rearchitecting. The Avni SDC 2.0 software reduces that time to hours.

The Avni solution combines SDN and cloud technologies to create true application-centric SDN, providing application policies, traffic management, security, acceleration and optimal use of network Layers 2/3. Avni SDC's Layer 4-7 network and application services automate most aspects of cloud migration and reduce months of effort to a few days or hours to make routine policy definitions and to simplify management of service levels via the Avni policy automation engine.

The solution operates seamlessly in traditional networking environments as well as in environments that use SDN technologies, thus reducing costs and leveraging best-of-breed technologies.

"Porting complex, multi-tier apps and services to the cloud can present massive roadblocks, and yet the promise of benefits such as reduced infrastructure costs, ease of management, and predictable subscription-based pricing compel companies to embark on risky cloud-migration projects with unpredictable returns," said Rohini Kasturi, founder and CEO of Avni. "Avni's goal was to join with HP to help organizations eliminate those risks, using these technologies in tandem with policy automation, to deliver the elasticity, high availability and capacity on demand that SDN can offer."

"We believe that SDN needs an open, inclusive ecosystem to meet the needs of users and applications; and many are already working on applications or services that will build upon the foundation provided by HP Networking's open SDN platform," said Michael Zhu, Senior Director, Global Solutions and Alliances, HP Networking. "With its launch of the Avni 2.0 Software Defined Cloud, Avni demonstrated that apps could move fluidly across the corporate network and cloud in response to the ever-changing needs of users."

The HP and Avni Software Defined Cloud platform was unveiled in live demos at HP Discover, June 2-4, 2015 in Las Vegas. For more information, contact Avni at www.avni.io.
