MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 08/27/15 -- Appcelerator® today announced it has appointed Spencer Punter as chief financial officer and chief operating officer. Punter brings over 20 years of experience in financial operations in the technology industry to Appcelerator, where he will play an integral role in driving the company's continued growth and expansion. Appcelerator also announced a $6 million round of Series E funding, which comes on the heels of significant traction of its mobile engagement platform and mobile ecosystem since the launch of an on-demand delivery model in April.
"It's an exciting time to be joining the Appcelerator team, as the company has seen a significant wave of growth following the launch of its new delivery model and platform," said Punter. "Appcelerator has seen impressive increases in adoption and engagement. I'm looking forward to being a part of this pivotal moment in Appcelerator's history and helping the company scale and build on success in the years to come."
Punter's appointment and the Series E funding round follow massive adoption of the Appcelerator Platform 4.0, which has seen more than 50,000 signups in the first three months of availability. The company has also processed a record number of cloud API calls -- 11 million API calls in June alone -- and analytics events -- 1.4 billion processed in Q2 2015 -- as well as powering mobile apps on a record number of devices and app stores -- 100,000 mobile apps in public app stores across 126 countries.
Punter most recently served as CFO of SnapLogic, a cloud app and data integration company. Prior to SnapLogic, he was a Managing Director at Capital Dynamics, a swiss private equity firm. He began his career in technology investment banking at Morgan Stanley, and has served as a venture capitalist for Integral Capital Partners and as a General Partner for Bowman Capital. In addition to SnapLogic, he served as an executive for two other venture-backed companies, Aztek Networks and ApexMD.
"Spencer brings years of experience, energy and a fresh perspective to Appcelerator as we continue to grow our mobile ecosystem," said Jeff Haynie, CEO, Appcelerator. "He is the ideal addition to our executive team, offering up expertise in the technology industry and experience working with a number of venture-backed start-ups. Spencer's background in cloud app and data integration positions him as a valuable resource for Appcelerator as we continue to help developers address and solve data integration problems prevalent in mobile app development."
