BOSTON, MA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/04/15 -- harmon.ie today announced a transformational expansion to harmon.ie Collage, the first Digital Workplace 'Go To' app that presents all the information workers need to do their jobs, in a single screen. Workers now have access to topical email, together with all their business apps, documents, collaboration apps and enterprise social networks in one app. Together with its contextually-filtered information stream, Collage now becomes a consolidated launch pad for business workers to complete tasks via native business apps or share updates by email or existing enterprise social tools. By augmenting existing apps and email, organizations can now realize their cloud and mobile investments through increased employee productivity and efficiency. Collage alleviates workers' information overload headaches because information workers now have one place to go to see the big picture, allowing them to focus on what matters most.
"Our workers need easy access to important information and updates to do their jobs -- and do them well. This is becoming increasingly difficult as we rely on more disconnected enterprise applications than ever before," noted Shawn Wiora, CIO and CISO at Creative Solutions in HealthCare. "Collage gives workers a way to quickly cut through the noise and get to what they care about most. Keeping a real-time pulse on the business and being able to act within a single app allows workers to focus on the task at hand and make sound business decisions."
Because information is spread out over too many apps and across email, workers are struggling to focus on what is important to do their jobs. Based on feedback from an elite community of beta users, harmon.ie recently introduced major enhancements to Collage, including the ability to:
"Workers are not only suffering from information overload, they are suffering from input overload -- too many sources of information vying for their attention," said Alan Lepofsky, VP and principal analyst at Constellation Research. "We don't need more tools, we need our tools to work better. By aggregating sources such as email, documents and business applications, employees can discover what's important and focus on getting work done, instead of wasting time just trying to find the people and information they need."
How Does it Work?
Collage combines updates from a worker's complete set of existing business apps into a single information stream -- apps such as business applications, document collaboration tools, enterprise social networks and email. Collage then employs machine learning and natural language processing (NLP) algorithms to automatically extract common topics from these updates, so workers can filter information by important subjects, people or time. As such, Collage enables workers to see the big picture across all their apps so they can focus on what matter most, without their organizations having to install new infrastructure for integrating disparate systems.
"Mobile devices have been purposely designed to distract users in the consumer world. The business-centric mobile experience cannot conform to these standards because an incessant stream of business application notifications is not only annoying, it's invasive," said Yaacov Cohen, CEO of harmon.ie. "Business users need to focus, and that requires a complete redesign of the mobile cloud experience. Collage delivers a new way to solve digital workplace challenges -- giving workers a Digital Workplace app to provide them with what they need to know without the distraction of competing apps and alerts."
