The Passpoint solution was launched by the Wi-Fi Alliance® in 2012 to streamline user access to multiple Wi-Fi networks operated by MNO's and other carriers wishing to give their customers a more "cellular-like" experience when connecting to Wi-Fi networks; in this way Passpoint also facilitates data offloading, roaming and other services.
