SEATTLE, WA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/19/15 -- 2nd Watch, a managed public cloud provider, today announces the achievement of the Big Data and Life Sciences competencies for AWS. The AWS Partner Network (APN) Competency program highlights partners that have demonstrated technical proficiency, leadership and proven customer success in specialized solution areas.
2nd Watch achieved the Big Data competency by demonstrating technical and customer success in the tools, techniques, and technologies of working with data productively, at any scale. A major consumer beverage company needed to measure customer outcomes of its new global soda fountains. 2nd Watch built a log management system centered around Splunk in AWS and migrated multiple years of pre-existing data into AWS. The end result was the company's ability to quickly deliver global metrics to managers on fountain consumption patterns.
In Life Sciences, 2nd Watch is one of just a handful of solution providers to complete the AWS competency by demonstrating technical and customer success in life science solutions on AWS. Partners in this category help customers with applications for drug discovery, clinical trials, manufacturing and distribution activities, and R&D. A $7.5 billion dollar global biotech firm needed to speed time-to-market for new drugs, and called upon 2nd Watch to help migrate two applications to AWS and begin its journey to the cloud.
2nd Watch has been an AWS Premier Partner since 2013, and was one of the first companies to achieve the AWS Managed Service Partner designation in April. Also last month, the firm announced a partnership with Melbourne IT to help regional customers with AWS deployments.
"The Big Data competency has many implications for AWS customers across diverse verticals, where efficiencies in processing and analyzing data deliver real marketplace value," says Doug Schneider, CEO at 2nd Watch. "Companies in the life science industry have some of the most complex data management and analytical needs today in computing, and we're excited to help companies with important work in clinical discovery bring those ideas to market faster."
