SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 02/24/15 -- Ekko, a secure platform for messaging and sharing content, announced today the official launch of its iOS and web-based apps. Designed to protect your privacy and streamline your communications, Ekko supports Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, iCloud, Exchange, Outlook, Yahoo, AOL, POP3, and IMAP accounts, with more to come. Ekko's subscription-based model allows you to link unlimited accounts and use Channels to tune, filter, and search your messages any way you want. Its built-in, user-friendly features protect your data and support private and secure messaging. Ekko does not track you or your data, scan your messages, or profile you in any way.

"Messaging has become fragmented across multiple apps and services. We created Ekko to simplify the way we communicate, and provide everyone with a way to keep messages private and secure," said Rick Peters, President and CEO of Ekko. "Ekko also offers new and unique messaging features, including comprehensive search, multi-modal messaging, and context-sensitive functions that we feel should be part of any messaging app. We're confident that Ekko is the next generation of messaging -- private, secure, powerful, and right at your fingertips."

Ekko allows you to:

  • Organize your communications: link any number of accounts including Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, iCloud, Exchange, Outlook, Yahoo, AOL, POP3, and IMAP.
  • Focus on what matters: manage and filter your messages completely ad-free, with Channels and context sensitive touch and hold gestures.
  • Communicate securely: apply easy-to-use security controls to any type of message, using any linked account; password protect any message, redact it, or set it to delete on read, after a predefined time, or after a defined number of unique views.
  • Take back your privacy: message, search, and browse safely, knowing that Ekko will never track, scan, profile, or monetize your personal data.
  • Search with confidence: search simultaneously and anonymously across all your messages and search engines, including email, tweets, posts, contacts, attachments, Google, Facebook, Twitter, DuckDuckGo, Bing, and more.

Ekko gives control back to the consumer, charging a small subscription fee of $5 per month (or $50 per year) for its services, rather than offering a free app and profiting through advertising or selling your data. New users can try the app for $1 for the first month.

"A recent Pew Research Center poll revealed that 91% of adults surveyed felt consumers have lost control over how personal information is collected and used by companies. Clearly we, and many of you, are tired of trading away our privacy and being profiled in exchange for 'free' services and apps," said Peters. "That's why messages sent through Ekko will always be kept private, and personal data will always be protected."

Ekko is available on desktop via Ekko.net and for both iPhone and iPad in the Apple App Store, only in the U.S. at this time. In addition to the services Ekko currently supports, the platform is currently working to integrate chat, SMS, voicemail, Instagram, Pinterest, Pocket, Evernote, LinkedIn, and Box. The service will also be available as a native app on Android devices.
