SEATTLE, WA -- (Marketwired) -- 08/07/15 -- Pyramid Analytics, the next-generation business intelligence (BI) platform for the enterprise, today announced that it has joined the PASS Global Alliance Program (PASS GAP) and in that capacity will participate as a Silver Sponsor at PASS Summit 2015, the world's largest, highest rated conference for Microsoft SQL Server and BI professionals, on October 27-30 in Seattle, Washington. This partnership comes on the heels of Pyramid Analytics' notable strategic agreement with Microsoft, collaborating on integrated technology and go-to-market (GTM) for the Microsoft Power BI Desktop. PASS is delighted to welcome Pyramid Analytics to the PASS GAP and the PASS Summit community.

In anticipation of PASS Summit 2015, Alberto Sutton, Vice President of Marketing at Pyramid Analytics, discussed industry topics of importance to the SQL Server community with James Rowland-Jones, Director of Special Projects with PASS.

James Rowland-Jones: Why join the PASS GAP?

Alberto Sutton: Pyramid Analytics is committed to help enterprise organizations invested in the Microsoft data stack. It's of great importance that we help them protect and grow that investment in sophisticated models on SQL Server and SSAS. Pyramid is already a BI certified Gold Partner of Microsoft and a long-time sponsor of PASS SQLSaturday. Now, becoming a PASS GAP member extends our commitment to SQL Server professionals and to our mutual customers with Microsoft.

Rowland-Jones: What does this partnership mean for your customers and the PASS community?

Sutton: It's a foundational goal at Pyramid that we support the customer who has built their company on the Microsoft BI stack and sophisticated data models. To attain that goal, we acknowledge and prioritize three key relationships: First, with the SQL Server community members who are some of our most avid users; second, with our mutual Microsoft customers and channel, so that we can endure as the best-in-class analytics platform on top of SQL Server and SSAS; and third, with Microsoft, with whom we partner closely to deliver innovative, enterprise-level BI technology and pivotal GTM strategy. Becoming a PASS GAP partner reinforces the goal of supporting these valued relationships. It is a perfect fit for us to help sponsor education, training, and professional network opportunities beyond SQLSaturday, to which we have a long-standing commitment.

Rowland-Jones: What is your opinion of the impact of PASS on the SQL Server community?

Sutton: The SQL Server community is a vibrant group of passionate professionals that share the same interests and face similar complexities in their day-to-day work. PASS provides the avenues for these professionals to come together, share resources, receive training, and advance their technical knowledge and skillset. We are more than pleased to be able to support PASS' efforts here. Pyramid Analytics recognizes the influence of this community and the growth it has experienced under the successful stewardship of PASS.

Rowland-Jones: What interesting or innovative trends in data management or BI are you witnessing?

Sutton: BI is evolving from its origin as a highly rigid, peer-controlled technology that was expensive to build, lacked flexibility for users who need agile and prompt access to information, and ultimately did not satisfy the needs of the business user. The second wave of BI solutions delivered data discovery solutions, but the available tools lacked enterprise-grade security and scalability. Today, organizations want to increase their adoption of BI. To increase its adoption and to quickly scale it, organizations need BI with agility and governance combined. They require a turnkey, self-serve solution that is easy to scale and that makes it easy to leverage their investments in data technology. Members of the SQL Server community tracking these key features in a BI solution will find that Pyramid Analytics stands out. Pyramid's collaboration with Microsoft makes us the natural go-to partner for SQL Server users.

On behalf of the PASS community, PASS thanks Pyramid Analytics for its continued support and encourages PASS Summit 2015 attendees to take advantage of the available learning opportunities from PASS partners at the event in October.
