MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 07/30/15 -- Qubole, the big data-as-a-service company founded by the team that developed Facebook's data infrastructure, today reported rapid adoption of its self-service big data analytics platform for mobile applications in the first half of 2015.
The Qubole big data as a service platform processes data stored on the three major public clouds: Amazon AWS, Google Compute Engine and Microsoft Azure. Among its key advantages, Qubole automatically sets up and scales clusters to match the needs of a particular job, and then winds down nodes when no longer needed. It gives analysts and data scientists complete self-service access to the latest analytics technologies such as Spark, Hive, Presto, MapReduce, Pig, Oozie, Hbase and Sqoop all unified under one enterprise framework. In addition, Qubole works with partners across a range of industries, including mobile marketing, to provide industry-specific data solutions to those markets.
Over the past year, Qubole has experienced a 600% growth in customers using the Qubole platform to analyze mobile data, and these customers have processed more than 1.35 Exabytes of data on Qubole. Among the growing list of companies globally using Qubole to process data gathered from mobile devices are Flipboard, Nextdoor, Pinterest, MyFitnessPal, TA telecom, Localytics, OlaCabs, Saavn and AdIQuity.
"Data collected by mobile applications are an ideal use case for data analytics in the cloud," said Ashish Thusoo, co-founder and CEO of Qubole. "These data sets require a highly scalable and elastic infrastructure to support the high data volumes; the analyses on these data sets benefit from a range of the latest tools and technologies such as Spark, Presto and Hive, depending on the task at hand; they need to be accessible to a wide number of users without the need for IT support; and the analyses need to be agile, flexible and quickly deployable in order to deliver insights instantaneously. These are capabilities on-premises deployments simply cannot deliver."
Qubole also continues to expand its network of systems integrator and solution provider partners to deliver cloud-based data analytics tailored to specific industries and use cases, with the addition of Perscio and Trace3. Perscio is a business consultancy that is focused on working with organizations to create opportunities using data. Trace3 is a business transformation solutions company that enables organizations to lead their markets by keeping pace with rapid changes in IT innovations.
"Our partners bring extensive domain expertise and tailored solutions for the types of customers they serve," said Marcy Campbell, senior vice president of worldwide sales and business development at Qubole. "With the Qubole platform, partners are able to get customers up and running in days rather than months or years, while bringing the most advanced data analytics to a broad range of industries."
Building upon its ongoing partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Qubole recently announced that it is now an AWS Advanced Technology Partner. The AWS Partner Network is a global partnership program focused on helping AWS partners build a successful AWS-based business by providing business, technical, marketing and go-to-market support. Through this partnership, Qubole now has access to a variety of AWS tools, training and support to further enhance the company's platform.
To follow are some of the awards Qubole has received this year based on its customer growth, innovation and strong partner program:
