NEWTON, MA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/17/15 -- Kaminario, the leading all-flash array storage provider for midrange enterprises, today announced the appointment of Andreas Koenig, a longtime storage technology executive, to the company's advisory board. Koenig brings to Kaminario years of storage experience, especially in Europe, and will help lead the company's continued expansion into the lucrative and flash-hungry Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.
"European businesses are beginning to realize the tremendous value of flash storage; rapid growth and new performance-hungry & mixed workloads are putting these companies in need of a new-generation storage system," said Koenig. "However, despite the increasing need for all-flash arrays in the EMEA region, many vendors haven't effectively penetrated the market yet. I'm eager to use my experience in this region to help Kaminario expand its footprint in EMEA and bring its scalable, cost-effective and easy-to-manage K2 array to more customers around the globe."
According to IDC research from January 2015, the EMEA external flash storage market was estimated to reach a total value of $2.9 billion in 2014, with a year-over-year growth of 32 percent. From 2013 through 2018, the all-flash array market in EMEA is expected to show a 58-percent CAGR, primarily driven by a drop in cost/GB and mainstream acceptance of flash systems for a broader range of workloads. Already a top storage solution used by enterprises across the globe, Kaminario was named a visionary in Gartner's 2014 first annual Magic Quadrant for Solid-State Arrays and has maintained strong business momentum, with more than 300 percent year-over-year growth in bookings for Q1 2015.
Kaminario recently unveiled the ACCELERATE Partner Program, its channel program which is currently expanding significantly in EMEA. With the addition of Koenig to its advisory board, the company is aggressively bringing the most cost-effective and scalable all-flash storage to EMEA data centers that are increasingly in need of a modern storage solution.
"We see a tremendous opportunity in this region for all-flash storage and Andreas, with his deep understanding of the European storage market and extensive sales, customer relations and partnership experience, is the perfect leader to help us continue our growth in this region," said Dani Golan, CEO, Kaminario. "With his guidance, we are well positioned to bring the many benefits of K2 to organizations in EMEA eager to transition to a modern storage architecture."
Koenig currently serves as CEO of TeamViewer, a Germany-based solution provider that is fully focused on the development and distribution of high-end solutions for online communication, collaboration and remote monitoring of IT systems. Prior, he was CEO of Swisscom IT Services AG, where he successfully merged two business units with 4,500 employees. Before Swisscom, Koenig served at NetApp for 16 years in various executive roles, including general manager of EMEA and SVP of sales, focusing on business growth and expansion in the European market. At NetApp, Koenig grew the EMEA team to 2,000 employees and ramped revenues to about $2 billion.
