Enterprises to Benefit From Fujitsu's Selection of Midokura Enterprise MidoNet (MEM) for Its Network Virtualization Overlay Solution

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 07/28/15 -- Midokura, the global innovator in software network virtualization, today announced an expanded OEM partnership with Fujitsu Limited, a leading Japanese information and communication technology company. Effective immediately, Fujitsu will offer Midokura Enterprise MidoNet (MEM) as the network virtualization overlay solution in its OpenStack-based open cloud architecture.

This partnership builds upon Midokura and Fujitsu's existing relationship, and provides for a joint engagement across product development, sales and customer support. The companies currently offer a solution supporting large-scale OpenStack deployments, integrating MEM as the primary network virtualization overlay for Fujitsu's OpenStack cloud solution.

As one of the world's largest IT providers, Fujitsu utilizes OpenStack to build its own private cloud and public cloud infrastructures. Enterprises worldwide embrace the increasingly popular OpenStack cloud operating system to reduce costs and avoid vendor lock-in. However, nearly two-thirds of users recently surveyed by the OpenStack Foundation still have concerns about OpenStack Neutron.

MEM is a scalable network virtualization solution designed for Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) clouds, and addresses the OpenStack Neutron pain point by replacing the default Neutron OVS plug-in. The result is a much more scalable and efficient networking solution optimized for highly virtualized cloud environments, allowing OpenStack users to easily implement their production-grade deployments.

As a co-branded partner for Fujitsu, Midokura further addresses the network virtualization software requirements of its Forbes Global 2000 customers. Fujitsu is a contributor to the MidoNet open source project, and will leverage MEM to address feature enhancement requests from its user community.

The open source version of MidoNet is quickly gaining in popularity worldwide in organizations of all sizes. MidoNet is a network virtualization platform providing a software layer directly within existing physical network hardware, turning physical machines into a virtual platform that can scale to hundreds of thousands of virtual ports. MEM is the enterprise-class version of MidoNet, strengthened with high-quality support and management tools.

Midokura's partnership with Fujitsu comes on the heels of a May release of MEM, including support for OpenStack Kilo, and for container-based environments such as Docker.
