(GCI) today announced it has signed a global master distributor agreement with Alcatel-Lucent to extend the reach of its IP Address Management (IPAM) and Performance Management software portfolio to mid and large size enterprises worldwide.

As a result of this relationship, GCI will market, distribute and service Alcatel-Lucent's VitalQIP™ Appliance Manager and VitalSuite® Application and Network Management portfolio to its more than 4,000 global channel partners. The VitalQIP Appliance Manager centralizes and streamlines IT management of IP databases for improved connectivity, while the VitalSuite Application and Network Management portfolio provides real-time analysis of application and network information to monitor service delivery and performance.

It marks the first time that Alcatel-Lucent has entered into a distribution agreement for its software and further enables the company to offer IP, cloud and ultra-broadband technologies beyond traditional telecom customers.

IP management is a growing challenge for IT departments as the rise in network traffic, popularity of IP addressable devices and wide range of applications creates security, availability and reliability issues that can cause critical network failure across an enterprise. Yet, only about a quarter of enterprises with more than 1,000 employees have yet to implement an enterprise-grade IPAM solution. This represents an enormous market opportunity for solution providers with enterprise customers to introduce and implement Alcatel Lucent's Vital portfolio.

Alcatel-Lucent's Vital portfolio today supports more than 850 enterprises globally, providing their IT staffs with the critical visibility needed to successfully manage industry initiatives such as virtualization, cloud, VoIP, BYOD and mobility. Application availability and response time, servers and network infrastructure performance can be proactively managed in real-time from a single, centralized portal.
