The Phillips 66 refinery is a complex operation with a deeply rooted commitment to safety. In case of an emergency, plant operators need to instantly alert all employees and visitors, which was previously accomplished via sirens located throughout the facility. As the Internet of Things (IoT) increases the number of interconnected devices on networks, AtHoc broadens the scope of the refinery's alerting abilities by simultaneously distributing alerts via voice, email, SMS text notifications and smart phone apps in addition to sirens.

The AtHoc deployment takes advantage of secure cloud services that free plant personnel from dedicating resources to an on-site server for the alerting system, and by integrating with the existing outdoor siren system, there is no need to provide additional training to personnel. AtHoc's simplicity of use also means operators in the central control room can focus their time on normal plant operations, with an available simple, one-button activation in an emergency.

"Our secure, cloud-based technology enables Phillips 66 to marry its disparate systems using the AtHoc Internet of Things (IoT) architecture," said Efraim Petel, AtHoc Vice President of Public Safety. "These innovations help maximize our customers' existing investments to further their important mission of safety and security, and we are honored by the trust that Phillips 66 has placed in AtHoc."
