HID Global Opens HIMSS 2015 With Its Broad Range of Secure and Innovative Healthcare Solutions

AUSTIN, TX -- (Marketwired) -- 04/09/15 -- HID Global®, a worldwide leader in secure identity solutions, today announced it will demonstrate a broad range of innovations optimized to enhance healthcare security at the HIMSS Annual Conference & Exhibition next week in Chicago. The company will showcase its new ActivID® Tap Authentication™ for Microsoft® solution that provides simplified and secure access to cloud apps and online services using mobile devices. HID Global will also highlight its new global digital certificate capabilities and support for electronic prescribing for controlled substances (EPCS), and feature demonstrations of its innovative HID Trusted Tag® Services for electronic visit verification (EVV).

HID Global will showcase its healthcare solutions at HIMSS 2015 in Booth #7636 at the McCormick Place Convention Center from April 13-15, 2015. HID Global demonstrations and highlights include:

  • ActivID Tap Authentication for Microsoft: Enables users to simply use their same smart card for opening doors to also "tap in" to laptops, tablets, phones and other NFC-enabled devices for easy and secure access to Office365 and other cloud applications and web-based services.

  • Electronic Visit Verification for secure proof of presence in home healthcare: HID Trusted Tag Services integration with Dial-N-Document for secure EVV and digital documentation. The cloud-based authentication platform adds trust to NFC technology in "proof of presence" applications.

  • EPCS solutions for complying with Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) two-factor authentication requirements: Convenient EPCS authentication that assists health providers implement compliant electronic prescribing systems. Demos will include biometric user authentication using Lumidigm® fingerprint sensors and identity-proofing using HID's IdenTrust Global Common (IGC) Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) certificates, both of which are DEA-approved for EPCS compliance.

  • Strong authentication solutions for improving safety and efficiency: OMNIKEY® contact and contactless smart card readers, ActivID One Time Password (OTP) tokens and Lumidigm biometric sensors provide strong authentication. With a simple touch of a finger, doctors, nurses and other hospital workers can reliably authenticate and login to multiple applications while maintaining an irrefutable audit trail.

The company's healthcare solutions will also be highlighted at Kiosk #26 in the HIMSS Intelligent Health Pavilion (IHP). In addition to showcasing the company's EPCS solutions in the IHP, HID Global will feature:

  • HID Trusted Tag Services for EVV: In the home environment, HID Trusted Tag Services deliver a secure and seamless EVV method for caregivers to accurately document their arrival and departure, helping providers improve efficiency, maintain more accurate service records and reduce billing fraud.

  • ActivID Tap Authentication to mobile devices with a hospital ID badge: To improve security and the user experience across in healthcare and other environments where it can require 20 or more logins each day in order to securely access data and services.

  • Secure visitor management: EasyLobby® solution that enables hospitals to secure, identify and manage visitors while integrating visitor management with HL7 and access control systems.

HID Global will participate in a panel discussion at the HIMSS i-Home™ Workshop, and will speak at HIMSS sessions in the Innovation Theater at the Intelligent Health Pavilion:
