MOBILE, AL -- (Marketwired) -- 07/14/15 -- CentraLite, a leading provider of IoT products, launched a Kickstarter campaign today to fund the development of new Jilia IoT Development Kits that will empower developers of all skill levels to imagine, build and expand the Internet of Things with a single, simple API framework. The Kickstarter campaign will run 30 days with the goal of raising a minimum of $50,000 to support large-scale production of the kits, which will ship in volume in October 2015. For additional information, visit the Kickstarter campaign, here: jilia.io/kickstarter.
"Right now, designing an IoT device requires a large team with a mix of skill sets, and deep knowledge, to create an end-to-end solution," said Kipp Bradford, tech innovator and developer. "CentraLite is developing a tool that makes it possible for small groups of designers to go from idea to implementation very quickly. It's exciting that a company like CentraLite, with their extensive background developing robust connected devices that are widely deployed in commercial and residential applications, is bringing that expertise to the world in the form of an open-source toolkit and API. I'm excited to see what Jilia has to offer."
The Jilia API can be used by novices and experts alike, providing a turnkey cloud service that eliminates the need for the development of custom server software, expensive infrastructure hardware, or dedicated teams for server/hosting maintenance. Teams that typically work separately such as mobile app, cloud/server infrastructure, and hardware teams, can all share similar code, and approaches, when developing products with the Jilia API.
"The most costly and complex step in creating IoT devices and services is building a cloud-based infrastructure to manage, communicate, and control millions of always-connected devices," said CentraLite CTO John Calagaz. "The Jilia framework provides these features directly through its API and can scale with an organization's needs -- from a few devices to millions, making IoT a reality where it wasn't, before."
Hardware Drivers and On-chip Solutions
Jilia provides connectivity and control between device-to-cloud, cloud-to-cloud, and cloud-to-app (mobile and web). It will also provide third-party hardware and device manufacturers with turnkey software drivers for a wide range of integrated radio chips. Driver support is planned for multiple types of ZigBee, Z-Wave, Bluetooth LE, and Wi-Fi modules, which will eliminate yet another step in the IoT development process.
Custom App Development
With Jilia simplifying so many areas of IoT development, many customers will only need to develop an app to complete their IoT project. For customers without app development teams, CentraLite will offer custom application development through a network of development partners. Using its full range of product offerings, CentraLite is expected to provide complete turn-key IoT solutions for customers of any size.
Jilia and the Jilia IoT Development Kit is planned to be available to Kickstarter backers in October 2015. For more information, visit www.centralite.com and connect with us on Twitter @CentraLite.
