One of the key principles of the DevOps movement is to automate everything, and to never do repetitive work manually. VMware NSX is a key enabling technology to make this possible. It does this by abstracting logical from physical networks, and by providing a single API to create complex network topologies for multi-tier applications. We will show how to interact with VMware NSX using Python and Ansible. After a short introduction to the API, we will go into details of the available Python library that will help you to achieve quick results. Finally we will show how the Ansible configuration management tool can be used with NSX to create secure network environments for multi-tier applications.

WHAT: INF5450 - Big Bang - Bare Metal to VMware vSphere Infrastructure

Thursday, September 3, 1:30-2:30 p.m. PT
WHERE: Moscone West, Level 3, Room 3008
WHO: Joseph Callen, Advisor Solution Architect, CSC and Russell Teague, Sr. System Architect, CSC

Initial provisioning of physical infrastructures can be challenging unless they are automated and easily repeatable. Using Ansible and Hanlon, this automated approach starts with hardware being racked and then only applying power to build a VMware vSphere infrastructure.
