Turn Announces Five Patent Awards for Ad Tech Innovations

REDWOOD CITY, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 02/26/15 -- Turn (www.turn.com), the digital hub for marketers, today announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has awarded five patents for innovations in advertising technology. The patents cover a variety of breakthroughs in programmatic bid decisioning and anonymous data mining and warehousing, enabling more sophisticated approaches to media buying and more efficient data analytics.

The USPTO has awarded Turn the following patents:

  • Externality-Based Advertisement Bid Adjustment (Patent 8,799,081) - Typical approaches to bid pricing calculate based solely on what is disclosed by a given inventory partner on a single bid. This patented approach applies game theory to the calculation of what to pay an inventory partner based on the information they disclose relative to other inventory partners.
  • Enhanced Online Advertising System (Patent 8,768,766) - One of the first patents covering the automation of digital advertising, specifically the automation of bid prediction based on performance objectives.
  • Horizontal Interval-Based Data Partitioning and Indexing for Large Clusters (Patent 8,903,803) - A unique approach to partitioning large amounts of data for range interval queries for data analytics.
  • Custom Data Warehouse on Top of MapReduce (8,918,388) - A unique way of compressing data for greater efficiency, requiring less server space and enabling faster querying.
  • Meta-Data Driven Data Ingestion using MapReduce Framework (8,949,175) - This method improves the efficiency of loading data from multiple source providers, addresses incongruities between those sources and produces an evolving data warehouse schema.
