FireEye CEO Dave DeWalt to Urge State Officials to Make Cyber Security a Top Priority

Security Leader to Share Insights on Evolving Threat Landscape at National Governors Association Summit on Cyber Defense

MILPITAS, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 03/26/15 -- FireEye, Inc. (NASDAQ: FEYE), the leader in stopping today's advanced cyber attacks, today announced that FireEye CEO and Chairman of the Board Dave DeWalt will call upon state leaders to place a higher priority on cyber defense at a meeting of the National Governors Association (NGA) later this month.

DeWalt was invited to share his insights on the evolving threat landscape with the more than 300 CIOs, chiefs of staff, and other senior state officials attending the NGA summit on cyber security on March 30 and 31 in San Jose, California.

The summit -- organized by the NGA's Resource Center for State Cybersecurity -- will bring together state government leaders with cyber security responsibilities to participate in sessions aimed at raising awareness of today's sophisticated and widespread cyber attacks.

DeWalt -- who is leading a session on "The Current and Emerging Threat Environment" -- will share FireEye research on advanced cyber threats and outline steps the company is taking to help organizations improve their defense posture to respond to increasingly complex attacks.

"FireEye has taken the lead in changing the way organizations worldwide strengthen their defense against a new breed of cybercriminals, and the NGA summit is an opportunity to reinforce what we're doing to address the security challenges facing state governments," said DeWalt. "The data on state networks and the critical infrastructure supported by our states is attracting the attention of a growing number of today's cybercriminals. Government officials, who are typically prepared to address natural disasters, are now recognizing that states need to be prepared for cyber attacks."

FireEye believes that partnerships with state government are essential, as the steps required to evolve with the rapidly changing threat landscape are often beyond the resources available to state cyber defense teams.

FireEye executives have spoken on cyber security at dozens of state and local government conferences. The company is working with a number of forward-looking government organizations which rely on the company's Adaptive Defense™ model to supplement cyber security teams, strengthen critical infrastructure, and develop the necessary response capabilities to keep networks secure.

"FireEye is committed to partnering with state and local governments to address the threats they face from today's more sophisticated and resourceful cybercriminals," said DeWalt. "We're encouraged by the response we're seeing from state and local governments and applaud the NGA for efforts like this summit on cyber security, but state leaders must remain focused on placing a higher priority on the threat of advanced attacks."
