DDS in Resource Constrained Environments: The DDS XRCE Protocol - Seguridad Mania.com - España y América Latina

The Data Distribution Service (DDS) standard is a powerful connectivity middleware for mission critical systems. In addition to large distributed systems, it is also used to manage communication in resource-constrained environments with battery-based, intermittent connections. This webinar will discuss the DDS standard used with tiny devices. The DDS XRCE Protocol specification manages communication in eXtremely Resource Constrained Environments (XRCEs) between a micro device (client) and an Agent (the server). It enables the device to communicate with a DDS network – regardless of vendor implementation - and publish and subscribe to topics in a DDS domain via an intermediate service. The DDS specification targets real-time systems, and it is designed to produce lightweight middleware implementations. As a result, DDS implementations targeting embedded systems are very common. Participants will learn when to use an embedded DDS implementation and when to opt for the DDS-XRCE standard.
